An Actual Update. What?? Yes. Update.

Posted in Home Life | 13 Comments »

It has been a very long time since I have updated this blog! The last time was when Ivy turned 5…now she is 6 and a half. And Rose has yet to even make an appearance on this blog!

So, here are some updates….

Ivy is now a very mature 6 and a half year old, and says things like, “Be careful, its fragile.” and “Mom, come quick, Violet did ______!” She will be starting the Nevada Ballet Theater Academy in a couple of months. She starts second grade in the fall. I cannot believe I have a 2nd grader on my hands.

I like to think of this dress as her Cathy Selden outfit.

Look at that beautiful ballerina foot!

Violet is 4 and a half and randomly says things like, “Spank the butt!” and “Let’s cut something!” I think that last one is Violet in a nutshell. She is starting Kinder in the Fall.

Here she is modeling a princess dress I made recently.

Rose is a teeny tiny 21 month old child who still fits in 12 month clothes, and who has a great sense of humor. She says things in Spanish like “Ma” (mas = more), “Abee” (abri = open), and “ta-te” (sentate = sit down). She also likes to say “go” and “no”. She can sing “pharoah, pharoah, ooooh baby let my people go, uh! yeah yeah yeah yeah…” but really only sings “oooh baby” and “go, uh! yeah yeah yeah yeah”! She is a funny little monkey.

Remember, remember, the 5th of November!

That’s it on the updates for now. I am going to try and start posting consistently again, but until I most definitely am, I will send out reminders when something new is up!

The Girls’ Party

Posted in Extended Family, Home Life | 17 Comments »

Hey guys! Thanks to everyone who came up to celebrate the girls’ birthdays! They had an amazing time, and so did I.  We are so blessed to have such amazing, caring, kind, and wonderful families! Thanks for all the thoughtful gifts! Here are some pictures from Saturday.

Its Amazing

Its amazing how much Violet talks now! It surprises me every time I suddenly make sense of what sounds like baby babble. This morning it was “I’m-a sit down.” A couple days ago it was, “Found it!” She can say the dogs name Princess, though it sounds like “Pintheth” LOL…its so cute. This morning she said, “I want Pintheth.” and “I’ma letter out, ta da!” (I’m going to let her out) and “Ivy’s thcared of Pintheth” (Ivy’s scared of Princess) Princess was trapped under the laundry basket if you are wondering what she was going to let her out from.

Her phrases are just developing so quickly. I thought maybe she was repeating phrases she heard, because I certainly do not remember Ivy speaking in full sentences at this age. But she is definitely putting them together by herself. Next thing you know she is going to be carrying on full conversations!

UPDATE: Oh, and the other thing I noticed today that she started saying was a full “yes” instead of “yeah”. Only she pronounces it “Yeth.” SO CUTE!!! So a few minutes ago she said, “Want apple jooth.” “You want apple juice?” I asked. “Yeth,” she answered. LOL

Anyway, a quick update on everyone else. We are all sick!! It started with Violet, then I got it, then Phillip and now Ivy. It doesn’t seem to be very severe, thank God! But the girls did develop a wet-sounding cough that is a bit nasty. As long as they don’t sound like their lungs are affected I am ok with that and we can just ride it out. I need to take Violet in for her 18 month vaccinations… a little late! I keep forgetting for some reason. And I don’t want to accidentally become a non-vaccinating mom! I do believe in vaccinating your children, unlike many of the Attachment Parenting moms in Vegas.

Hello Again!

Posted in Home Life | 13 Comments »

So I know that it has been about forever since I posted anything here. My creative energy has gone into the Las Vegas Mama site so frequently that I usually run out of time for this one.

My mom and dad came this weekend, which was really nice. Of course, it was strange that they were here without my Grandma. Very strange. I miss her. Ivy said that she wants to be old someday just like Abuelita. “But I don’t want to smell like her though,” she added. LOL

The girls had an absolute BLAST with their Iaia and Abuelo. And I, of course, loved having the break.

A new and interesting development in the case of Violet is at hand… she has begun to string together words into full sentences! It happened fairly suddenly, she would blurt out “Don’t want to!” when she was upset about something. Or if she was adamant about something she would blurt, “I want that!”. That was a couple months ago, but it was the extent of her sentences and she would never repeat it if you asked her to.

Now in the last couple of weeks she has graduated to, “I want apple juice,” and phrases like that. She said “Dog… wanna pick it up!” as well.  She doesn’t use her phrases all the time, but when she does its really astounding. I dont recall Ivy ever putting phrases together until she was at least 2 years old, if not longer.  I could be wrong (I will have to double check that), but I think Violet’s language skills are much more advanced. Which makes sense when you consider the older sibling.

The other thing that I find funny is that there are times when I just cannot understand Violet, but Ivy does. I guess babies know baby talk!

Well that’s it for now. I am going to try and make an effort to post here more frequently. The Las Vegas Mama site is a lot of fun for me, but it is also a lot more impersonal. On this site I am freer in what I post, which is nice. Now I need to take advantage of that again.

Even More Random Sampling of Pictures

Well, even though I am really not a fan of randomness when it comes to my postings, I find myself once again just putting these up without any sort of theme.

Daddy-daughters time!

Apparently the muppet pinching is not restricted to mom or even to women in general (though so far she has tried to get funny with Naomi and my mom too!). Here is Violet trying to have a go at Phillip's muppets.
