New Summer Dresses for Ivy

Posted in Church, Home Life | 12 Comments »

So I went shopping today for some summer clothes for Ivy, since it’s already starting to get hot.

This one might be my favorite. Though I meant to find really casual every day dresses, with a little bolero it will be cute enough to double as a church dress.

This jumper fit a bit big, but I didn't like the cut of the shorts anyway so I think I will return it.

This one came in pink and yellow too but Ivy liked this color best.

I will also be able to use this one for church

I was also looking for casual everyday wear sandals, but what I found instead were these irresistibly cute seahorse sandals.

These would be totally great summer church shoes, but she already has a pair. So now to decide - which should she use for church, and which for every day wear? I am thinking these for every day. Though they are also way cute, the other shoes are plainer and more circumspect.

This is the other church-worthy shoe.

I also really, really, really wanted to get her this shoe with the adorable little turtles, but they didn't have her size! Anyway, she only has so many outfits that go with a purple sandal.

Holy Mother of God!

Ivy draped herself in my robe and started trying to crush a toy with her foot. Upon closer inspection, it was discovered to be a toy snake. When we asked her what she was doing she said she was pretending to be Mary. Its scary how much they pay attention to what you say and what they see!!!

Genesis 3:15 - "I will put enmities between thee ("the serpent") and the woman, and thy seed and her seed: she shall crush thy head, and thou shalt lie in wait for her heel."

The pretending continued on after she abandoned the snake when she stuffed a doll underneath her shirt. Again, when we questioned her we were surprised by her answer. She said she was still Mary, and that Jesus was in her belly.

Immaculate Conception!

So there you go. Our daughter is aspiring to be Mary. I am totally okay with that!

While we are on religious topics, I thought some of you might enjoy this little gem:

Happy Valentine’s Day

I’m not a fan of heart shaped boxes, teddy bears for grown women (shudder), or forced romance. Phillip and I “celebrate” at least a week or two after the actual date in protest of its commercialism, but still use the general time frame to remember to take time for each other. Since having kids this has been difficult, but when we go down to LA we will have family to look after the girls so we can spend some time alone together. To all our LA peeps: you are officially on notice for the weekend of the 26th! And as for today, the actual day of……

Unexpected Prayers

After ballet today (Pocahontas: I will post the video later) we went into Baby USA which is right next to the studio. They have a lot of adorable furniture, cute little brightly painted Time Out chairs that make Time Out seem like a nice vacation, they have kid beds, dressers, cute room decorations, etc.

Ivy loved playing on the Princess bunk bed that was complete with a slide! Even if we could afford one, I wouldn’t buy it for her for fear of spoiling her rotten. I would want to, just so I could live vicariously through her, but I wouldn’t dare.

Here she is, exploring the display

Even of you are not girlie, you have to admit its pretty cool to have a slide on your bed and a play area beneath!

But by far, my favorite piece of furniture was a combination stepstool and kneeler for bedtime prayers! At about $70 its way too pricey (though there was a time that would have actually seemed cheap to me). Ivy found it, and before it occurred to me what this was, Ivy was already kneeling on it and praying. It was so precious to see her to that, and it just filled my heart with joy.

And here is some video of Ivy praying the Hail Mary in Latin:

I know this is random, but I also have these cute pictures of Ivy.
