Amazing – its an update!

I know it has been a while since we have updated anything on the blog. I guess I just feel like I am kind of duplicating information because I usually post stuff on Facebook. I need to really do less of that and more of this!

Let’s see, what’s new….Ivy is done with ballet class until September. Well, technically until August 31st but you get the point. She will be joining the 3 and 4 year olds, sans mommy, because when it comes right down to it she could care less that I am there. She spends most of the time paying attention to the other little girls and to her teacher Miss Alene. Miss Alene is like the pied piper to Ivy. Which is fine, at least then she will listen to the ballet instruction! For her last class Phillip took my place and did the class with her. Funny, but she also paid more attention to him than she normally does to me! Maybe it has something to do with the fact that we are together ALL the time. :) The daddy-daughter thing was too adorable for words, so here is a picture.

Violet is doing well, just developing more and more each day. At the moment she is trying to snag my mouse, which makes it hard to type while she clicks the mouse all over the screen. She isn’t even in my lap, she is standing up and reaching up to the table. She pulls herself up into a standing position any chance she gets.

Other cool things she has done lately: stick out her tongue when I say “lengua”, cruise from place to place – meaning she will “walk” from one chair to another (she doesn’t let go of one chair until she has grasped the other, but still, for an 8 month old its not bad!), giving slobbery open-mouthed kisses, and making kissy sounds in response to my kissy sounds by clicking her tongue. That one is pretty funny. She can use her “pincer grasp” (thumb and forefinger) to self-feed sweet potato puffs and to pinch me really hard whenever possible. For a baby she is still strong enough to leave tiny bruises on my arms. Last week she left a whole constellation of itsy bitsy bruises on my upper arm. I should have taken a picture of that!

Anyway, here are she and I at The Carousel at Green Valley Ranch.

Lately our habit is to go to Settebello there at Green Valley for dinner on Friday nights. Dinner, a gelato, and then afterwards Ivy rides the Carousel. We look forward to it all week long. Settebello is this AWESOME pizza place, but not just any old pizza- its Vera Pizza Napoletana, which adheres to strict guidelines so that it is totally authentic Italian. They have to “qualify” to use that title!

Check it: http://www.pizzanapoletana.org/eng_chisiamo.php

Its such amazing food, and I have to say, having been to Italy recently- Settebello’s pizza is perfectly authentic! Here are Phillip and Ivy at the Carousel.

Well that’s all for now, and I promise to try to be better at blogging! :P
