New Summer Dresses for Ivy

Posted in Church, Home Life | 12 Comments »

So I went shopping today for some summer clothes for Ivy, since it’s already starting to get hot.

This one might be my favorite. Though I meant to find really casual every day dresses, with a little bolero it will be cute enough to double as a church dress.

This jumper fit a bit big, but I didn't like the cut of the shorts anyway so I think I will return it.

This one came in pink and yellow too but Ivy liked this color best.

I will also be able to use this one for church

I was also looking for casual everyday wear sandals, but what I found instead were these irresistibly cute seahorse sandals.

These would be totally great summer church shoes, but she already has a pair. So now to decide - which should she use for church, and which for every day wear? I am thinking these for every day. Though they are also way cute, the other shoes are plainer and more circumspect.

This is the other church-worthy shoe.

I also really, really, really wanted to get her this shoe with the adorable little turtles, but they didn't have her size! Anyway, she only has so many outfits that go with a purple sandal.

Summer? Already??

Today was a nice and lazy Saturday. It was almost 90 out though, so we decided to get a little refreshment and go swimming. Oddly enough even with it being 90 degrees the pool was absolutely freezing so for the time being we are turning the heater on in the spa so it is comfortably warm.

Ivy jumped in front of the camera, saying "I love ice cream!" She loves attention.

I was trying to get a picture of them standing next to each other, which Ivy took as a sign that she should try to lift Violet up and swing her around like drunken discus thrower. At the time of this picture, Violet was emitting a very loud high pitched screeching sound. She hates being manhandled. Ivy loves manhandling her. It's a match made in heavan.

When Did Violet Grow Up?

I have been noticing this week that Violet seems so big all of a sudden. I was comparing her size in relation to the dog, and she is definitely bigger now than when we got the dog just a few weeks ago. She is such a toddler! That baby-ness is disappearing quickly. It boggles the mind!!

Yesterday we went to Settebello, and when they brought out the gelato she let out this sharp little scream from excitement. It was hilarious! Somewhere along the way we lose the ability to get excited about the simple things in life, I guess…

She has been so communicative, talking and even stringing words together like “I want mom” and “where’s dad?” (when she said this last one she turned her palms up and shrugged a little, it was so funny!)

She babbles a lot, and she thinks she is actually saying something. I still remember when Ivy did that and I was anxious to understand her. Now I am more patient, I know that once it starts you just cannot shut them up LOL!

Anyway, she is fun. The girls are starting to play together which is great. I have been looking forward to them entertaining each other. But by the same token, all that interaction also creates fights. That part is no fun. I have been giving Violet a whole lot time outs. Unlike Ivy, who cried every time I put her in time out, Violet just pouts a little some of the time, and the rest of the time she gives me impish looks and smiles. Not good. I don’t think the time outs are working. I may have to try a different tactic. Any advice???

Easter 2010

Easter was really great. Phillip and I went to St Therese for Latin Mass and they sang this song at communion, it gave me the chills!

While he and I went to Mass, Ivy and Violet did an egg hunt and grandma and grandpas.

Then afterwards we went to¬† my cousin Diane’s house, where we spent some time surprise-smashing eggs filled with confetti on each other’s heads- way fun!

Here is video of Ivy singing as Snow White:
