Ivy’s 5th birthday party

Posted in Uncategorized | 15 Comments »

Here are the pics from Ivy’s 5th birthday, the “Mary” party she requested. This was a very hard “theme” to pull together. There isn’t exactly a whole lot of Marian birthday celebrations out there. So taking Sara’s advice, I decided to focus on the heavenly aspect of Mary to reflect the reality that we are all trying to achieve a place in heaven with the Lord. As the Queen of Heaven, Mary will intercede for us to help us get there. Clouds and other celestial images are how we pulled the theme together.

This is an image of Our Lady of Guadalupe, and we ask for her prayers as we embark on celebrating another year of blessings for Ivy.

Instead of a cake we did a rosary made of cupcakes (thanks to JoMarie for the idea!)

You can see part of the decorations is clouds, angels and stars.

And now, the food…

Jello and whipped cream make Heavenly Parfaits. I used 2 jello boxes and an entire tub of cream to make 5. Next time I would use MUCH smalled cups!

The games…

This is the Tilma Toss, inspired by the apparition of Our Lady of Guadalupe, where Our Lady appeared to an Indian convert names Juan Diego. A miraculous image appeared on his work apron (Tilma) after Our Lady instructed him to collect flowers that grew on the barren hillside in the middle of winter so he could take them as proof of her appearance to the local Bishop).
