This is going to be a short post. I just wanted to show you all how creative my children are. I am continually amazed by the sorts of things they come up with!

They took an egg crate, cut it up and painted it to make “hats” for all their stuffed animals. Witness the creativity:

But the thing that really, really amazed me was that yesterday morning Ivy woke up early before anyone else and entertained herself by composing her first ever piece of music, for piano.

She even attempted to notate a repeat at the end of it. I don’t know about you, but I find that incredible. Maybe because it seems like just the other day that she was just learning to walk. And now here she is, 7 years old and composing music. She played the piece for me and it actually makes musical sense! That is even more incredible than her just trying to compose some random notes.

PJ’s Baptism

Our dear little Phillip Samuel, aka PJ, was baptized into Christ’s family last Saturday. It was a beautiful ceremony and we were blessed to have family and good friends, both in person and united in spirit, supporting us. Afterwards we all went back to the house for brunch and fellowship. A good time was had by all, most of all by PJ since he took a gloriously long nap once we got home! Getting baptized is exhausting work when you are 2 months old.

The funny thing about the date of his baptism is that it was the Feast of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. We didn’t plan it that way, it just so happened that the officiating priest wasn’t free until that day. Coincidence? I think not! PJ’s godmother, my good friend Graciela, held him in her arms and said a beautiful prayer for PJ, rendering him wholly unto the special intercession of our Blessed Mother . We ask Mary for her intercession with her son, our Lord Jesus Christ. Why Mary? Well, we ask for her prayers and assistance because as Jesus’ mother she is closest to him in Heaven, and probably has more pull than anyone else! All praise, honor and glory goes to God – but Mary can bring our humble prayers to the heavenly throne with an extra petition to God on our behalf.

It was a joy-filled day! Here are some pictures.
