Doin’ the Lord’s Work

Well, we finally got the embroidered pieces of fabric back for the vestments! It took forever but I think it was worth it because it looks beautiful. Once these are done the next set will be the white vestments.

Phillip is going to work on it over the weekend, and it should take about a week or so to finish everything up (meaning a week from this Saturday). He already has the lining cut out and ready to go. He has cut out the shape of the vestments using the embroidered fabric and now just needs to sew all the pieces together including the cording, which can be tricky. Then we have to send the stole back to get the cross embroidered onto the back seam. But that should not take more than a few days, I should think.

Here is Phillip sewing up the lining of the burse.

Here is the vestment. Its pinned together to give you an idea of how it will look. The design down the center is embroidered on, and the lines on either side is the trim that will be sewn on in that spot. Though not pictured here, it will have a gold cording trimming the edges of the garment.
